Desert areas, flatlands,sandy areas

Reproduction:

Mates in Spring

Oviparous

20 born in Summer

 

Behavior:

BITES WHEN HANDLED OR HARRASSED!

Nocturnal during hot months.

Diurnal during cool months.

Does not Hibernate

Subspecies in Arizona:

1. Mohave Desert Sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes cerastes)

Found in very north-western part of AZ.

2. Sonoran Sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes cercobombus)

Found in central to south-central AZ.

3. Colorado Desert Sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes laterorepens)

Found in South-western part of AZ.
