Mates in Summer

Oviparous

Young born in Summer

 

Behavior:

BITES WHEN HANDLED OR HARRASSED!

Nocturnal during hot months.

Diurnal during cool months.

Hibernates in Winter alone or in groups

Subspecies in Arizona:

1. Hopi Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis nuntius)

Found in north-eastern AZ

2. Green Prairie Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis viridis)

Found in small part of state along  central AZ/NM border.
