Behavior: 

Diurnal in spring, nocturnal in summer, and hibernates in winter. 

 

 

Territory: 

Gila monsters can be mainly found in southern and western Arizona. They are also known to be in the areas that immediately surround Arizona. 

 

 

Diet: 

(carnivore) feeds on nestling mammals, nestling birds, the eggs of birds and reptiles, lizards, and carrion.

 

 

Life Expectancy: 

25 years

 

Fun Facts: 

Gila Monsters store fat in their tails. 4 or 5 meals may be enough to sustain them for an entire year. 

They are 1 of only 2 venomous lizards in the world. Venom secreted from glands in the lower jaw is delivered through grooves in their teeth.
